Values, Mission, and Vision
Who We Are:
Kol Zimrah is the premier Jewish community choir of Chicago—having performed Jewish choral music in a wide range of genres for 30 years. Kol Zimrah has made a significant impact on the Jewish musical scene in Chicago and nationally. Our performances inspire a wide range of audiences, and help build bridges with a variety of communities. Our members and supporters include both lay people as well as cantors and other Jewish musical professionals.
Our Values (the standards of behavior that guide everything we do):
Belonging: We invite Jewish singers from all denominations as well as non-Jewish singers who are passionate about and want to sing Jewish music; we consider ourselves a family who cares about and supports one another
Learning: We are passionate, lifelong learners of Jewish music, as led by our professionals
Generosity: We are generous of heart and of spirit; we are here to support and engage the Jewish community in Chicago and beyond —regardless of ability to compensate us for performances
Harmony: We work in partnership to perform meaningful, beautiful music for our audiences
Shalom (Peace): We believe music is the sound of the soul and, as such, can bring shalom to our audiences near and far.
